Sciarrino’s “Infinito nero” Performed by Ensemble / Parallax at National Sawdust

A few years ago, I had the privilege of performing Salvatore Sciarrino’s highly demanding and enthralling piece, Infinito nero” with the amazing mezzo soprano Kathleen Roland Silverstein and the wonderful video artist Wolfgang Lehmann at National Sawdust with Ensemble / Parallax. It was, to say the least, one of the most exciting collaborations I’ve ever been involved with; Kathleen is one of the most brilliant singers around, and to boot, incredibly flexible and easy to work with (not an easy combination to find with a lot of soloists). Wolgang Lehmann’s multimedia visuals were also absolutely beautiful. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work which yielded a fantastic tour and collaboration.
